Bio: Aaron Granat is a Madison-based artist specializing in documentary production, multimedia performance, and video installation. He graduated with a Master of Arts from the UW Communication Arts film studies program in 2010 and continued to instruct media production courses for the next ten years.  As staff videographer at the UW-Madison, Division of the Arts, Aaron regularly documents art events and programs in Madison representing a wide range of perspectives and disciplines. Throughout 2019, Aaron made a video documentary outlining and celebrating “Phoenix from the Ashes,” a partnership between Madison Parks, Madison Arts Commission, and Wisconsin Urban Wood transforming local ash wood into works of art. The documentary, “From the Ashes,” was premiered at the opening of the exhibition in the Playhouse Gallery of the Overture Center and was installed on loop throughout the duration of the exhibition. Currently, Aaron is excited to capture the many ways that art will be mobilized to combat global warming as “Winter is Alive” takes shape.
