Bio: Brittany Weekley is a multimedia sculptor working with themes of identity, authorship, and ownership. Her work reflects upon and personifies the physical ailments, emotional struggles, and social constructs that merge together to formulate individual identity. Emphasis on color, materials, and amorphous forms combine to create sculptural works that serve as an ongoing series of self-portraits— examining the unseen forces at hand that construct self-perception. Weekley analyzes the concept of authorship using personal trauma, memories, and humor— using a sculptural language to rewrite her history and take ownership of her narrative. Weekley was born and raised in rural West Virginia where she resided for 22 years. She received her BFA in Sculpture from West Virginia University in 2020. Currently, Weekley is a first-year Sculpture MFA Candidate at the University of Wisconsin- Madison.
