how far will we go to find ourselves out in the cold?, Frozen Lake, 2021
My pursuit of outdoor installation is embedded in our current awareness of climate change and our relationship to Mother Earth. There was a recently-released study about how our Wisconsin lake freezes are weakening due to global climate change. My submission for the Winter Is Alive! show explores the frozen lakes as a critical part of Wisconsin culture and the physical expression of our changing seasons and climate. My manipulation of the frozen surface exposes my very own impermanence and in turn, invokes the conversation surrounding what we leave behind.
