what we break and build and return to the earth, Pine, cotton string, White Mulberry and Abaca pulp, 8’x8’x7′, 2021
This piece speaks to both the resilience and fragility of natural environments. Throughout the building processes, these structures shifted and twisted organically as the materials dried: the same pulp that created the sculpture’s airy, translucent walls, carried the strength to break its wooden skeleton. The work acts as a physical marker of time, as it is weathered by the elements of a harsh winter, altering its form even further.
